Twin Peaks rises above a residential Poway neighborhood.
Nestled within a tranquil suburban neighborhood, the Twin Peaks trail in Poway, California, offers hikers serene views and natural surroundings. This moderately easy hike provides panoramic vistas of the surrounding valleys and, even glimpses of the distant Pacific Ocean on the clearest of days.
Starting from the trailhead at Silverset Neighborhood Park, we recommend our out-and-back route along a well-maintained single-track trail that leads to the two summits. At 1,306 feet in elevation the first peak is the highest, and can be found at the end of a short spur trail. Continue on a little further to the rounded dome of the 1,250 foot secondary peak. Both summits offer great views past sprawling suburban neighborhoods and towards dramatic mountain ranges that surround the area.

Returning the way you came is our preferred option, though a looping route is also available. We found the narrow trail leading directly down the southern face of the mountain to be a harder route with loose rocks. It connects to a wide and frequently washed-out dirt road that has little to offer a hiker.
Parking within Silverset Park is available for around thirty vehicles and additional roadside parking on nearby residential streets is also possible. Silverset Park also includes a restroom, playground and ball fields.

Twin Peaks is a perfect family-size mini-adventure.
